AEMT Course Near Me in Texas: Train Online, Do Clinicals Close to Home
If you typed “AEMT course near me” into Google, you probably want two things: a program that fits around your shifts, and training you can reach without moving across the state. For most Texas EMTs, PERCOMOnline’s hybrid Advanced EMT program delivers both.
Your coursework happens online, so the classroom is wherever you are. Your clinical hours happen at hospitals and EMS agencies in PERCOMOnline’s Texas network, which stretches from the Piney Woods to the Permian Basin and from the Panhandle to the Rio Grande Valley. Only your skills sessions require travel, to our Abilene training site.
PERCOMOnline has trained EMS professionals since 2007. Our Advanced EMT program is licensed by the State of Texas and prepares you for the National Registry (NREMT) AEMT exam.
How a hybrid AEMT course works when you live anywhere in Texas
The program has three parts, and you have up to 9 months to finish all of them. Extensions are available if you need more time.
- Online didactic (up to 5 months). About 26 modules of video, presentations and reading, plus homework, research exams and live instructor-led chat sessions. You take the NREMT-level final exam from home with a live online proctor. Coursework is open 24/7.
- Skills training and testing (3 days). Two one-day practice sessions and one one-day testing session with a live instructor. Texas sessions are held at PERCOMOnline’s training site in Abilene. If a group of students needs a closer location, you can ask for one through the Alternative Skill Site Request form.
- Clinical internship (144 hours minimum). You complete these hours as a student at hospitals and EMS agencies in our clinical network, so you can choose sites close to where you live or work.
| Clinical requirement | Minimum |
|---|---|
| EMS ride time | 72 hours and 10 patient transports (BLS or ALS) |
| Hospital emergency department | 56 hours |
| OB or alternate location | 8 hours |
| Hospital OR or alternate location | 8 hours |
| Total | 144 hours |
This is what “near me” really means for an AEMT student. The part of the program that takes the most hours, your clinicals, happens in your own region.
